Vice President Kamala Harris has nearly disappeared from the public following her return from her first trip to Asia as President Joe Biden faces scrutiny over his handling of Afghanistan and other issues.
Since her return on Aug. 26, Harris has only held a brief ceremony to swear in the nation’s ambassador to Mexico Ken Salazar, as well as gaveling in a short session of the Senate to respond to a request for help in Afghanistan.
Harris is still officially Biden’s point person to lead the nation’s response to illegal immigration along the southern border. Her silence on the issue and other topics has concerned many Americans.
Under Biden’s leadership, more than one million illegal immigrants have already crossed the southern border in 2021, with the current pace suggesting two million could cross by the end of the year.
Further, tens of thousands of unaccompanied children are among those entering the nation. These children are initially held in large facilities before reconnected with family or placed with sponsors, with thousands still waiting for help.

“Once thought to be a frontrunner for 2024, Harris is now backing out of a home-state campaign appearance for embattled California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who is counting on big-name Democrats to carry him across the finish line to victory in his recall election on Sept. 14,” Just the News reported.
Harris stands in a difficult position behind Biden’s multiple problems. However, the vice president has also not helped herself, leading to a quiet exit from media attention.
