Kamala Harris claims she has not seen video of husband kissing First Lady Jill Biden

Vice President Kamala Harris claims she has not seen the video clip of her husband, Doug Emhoff, sharing an awkward smooch with first lady Jill Biden, Breitbart reported. The second gentleman and first lady were caught kissing on the lips at last week's State of the Union address.

Harris was asked about it during an interview with Edwin Pitti at Univision. The vice president pretended she didn't see the moment the internet was going crazy over.

"No, I haven’t watched the video," Harris said. "But I do know that the first lady and the second gentleman are working arduously with what we are doing with my husband against anti-Semitism."

Likely in an attempt to change the subject entirely, Harres went on about a recent trip Emhoff took to Auschwitz in Poland. She said he was committed to combatting antisemitism and "also against hatred towards immigrants" she said that "sadly" happens in the U.S.

"But the first lady and second gentleman are truly, truly concerned for many people that are overlooked and underrepresented," Harris added. Perhaps, but that still doesn't answer the question as to whether it was an appropriate greeting for people who are each married to someone else.

Social media exploded with talk of the kiss that nearly overshadowed everything else that happened at the SOTU. Clay Travis at Outkick tweeted the video with the question on everyone's mind that night.

"Why did Jill Biden kiss Doug Emhoff on the mouth? #SOTU" he wrote.  The same sentiment was echoed by conservative personality Arthur Schwartz.

"Why did Jill Biden kiss Doug Emhoff on the mouth?" he asked while sharing a still of the moment. "Weird," is how Donald Trump Jr., former President Donald Trump's son, said as he reshared Schwartz's post.

"Jill Biden and Doug Emhoff greet each other with... a kiss on the lips? Is this... normal?" Cabot Phillips, senior editor for the Daily Wire, tweeted.

Even left-leaning Slate magazine admitted its newsroom was "polarized" over the kiss on whether it was appropriate and, if not, just a mishap akin to saying "Love you, bye" on a business call.

"Jill and Doug have both been very well behaved in their roles thus far, keeping gaffes to a minimum and letting the spotlight fall on the Biden-Harris administration," Heather Schwedel, staff writer for Slate, wrote. "It’s ironic, then, that Jill’s first false step would be kissing a colleague, seeing as her husband’s tendency for inappropriate touching (and hair-smelling) has been following him around for years," she added.

"Who knew Jill had it in her?" Later, Schwedel asserted it was a welcomed diversion and fodder for the gossips of the world.

"It provided the perfect level of low-stakes political controversy we could all bond over, and we need all the bonding moments we can get," Schwedel said. "Their kiss? Simply chef’s kiss," she concluded approvingly.

Awkward social moments happen to us all, and it's possible that's all there is to this kiss between the first lady and second gentleman. However, watching Harris do a very poor job addressing it as such is oddly satisfying.
