In a humiliating on-air bomb of epic proportions, liberal stalwart and co-host of ABC’s The View Joy Behar held forth on the topic of gun control on Wednesday and claimed that “the Supreme Court is poised to pass a bill,” revealing to millions her staggering ignorance of how the federal government works, as Breitbart reports.
Behar was presumably making reference to an impending ruling from the U.S. Supreme Court in the case of New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc. v. Bruen, which involves whether New Yorkers have the right to carry a concealed handgun for self-defense in public spaces, and she is apparently alarmed by what the justices could ultimately decide.
“The Supreme Court is poised to pass a bill contradicting the New York City State laws. We have very strict gun laws here, and they would like it to be,” began Behar.
“Apparently, somebody has put it on their desk that New York should be an open carry state and an open carry city with all of the density in this city. They want people running around with guns. Middle-class people will be leaving droves if that happens,” the panel host added. WATCH:

Behar warns: “The Supreme Court is poised to pass a bill contradicting the New York City State laws” on concealed carry to make it “an open carry state, and an open carry city.”

Co-host and attorney Sunny Hostin, who could have easily corrected Behar’s glaring misunderstanding of which branch of government is actually responsible for passing laws in this country, did not bother to do so, allowing her colleague’s vacuousness to remain on full display.
Not surprisingly, it was not long before Behar’s blooper garnered all sorts of negative attention from the Twitterverse, with Newsbusters opining, “Joy Behar needs to sit down and watch a ‘Schoolhouse Rock’ cartoon to learn how the CONGRESS passes a bill (when he’s living there on Capitol Hill).”
Jim Geraghty of National Review declared, “’The View’ is a show about current events, hosted by several celebrities who don’t know much about current events, and who adamantly refuse to learn anything new about current events.”
While it is always amusing to watch an outspoken, opinionated liberal such as Behar make a fool of herself in spectacular fashion, as conservative commentator Joe Cunningham aptly noted, “What is terrifying is that there is a not-insignificant portion of American voters who get a not-insignificant amount of their news from The View,” and that is something that will hopefully change, and change soon.
