Joe Biden's presidential campaign is off to a "slow start"

President Joe Biden's reelection campaign is reportedly off to a "slow start" two weeks after he announced his intention to seek a second term, according to Breitbart. Democrats are rightly becoming concerned.

Biden kicked off his bid for a 2024 run with a video posted to social media on April 30. However, even as time wears on, key personnel have yet to meet, and even his campaign manager hasn't started the job.

Furthermore, there is no physical location designated as a campaign headquarters, and aides are currently occupying space in the Washington, D.C., headquarters of the Democratic National Committee. Beyond these logistical concerns, it's apparent that the campaign has failed to land on any achievements the 80-year-old has made during his first term.

The New York Times outlined these concerns as it reported that "there is little evidence of the typical preparation for a national political campaign" while "top advisers insist the limited-release nature of his 2024 campaign is boring by design." Instead, they claim it's a cost-saving measure and a conscious strategy.

"All of the pieces that should and need to fall into place will," campaign co-chair and Democratic donor Jeffrey Katzenberg said reassuringly. The Hollywood mogul may be naively optimistic.

Biden will face a formidable GOP foe with former President Donald Trump as the potential Republican nominee and will require an equally aggressive strategy. John Del Cecato, who was a strategist for both of Barack Obama’s presidential campaigns, is concerned that nothing is getting done.

"Part of me is troubled that people are more enthusiastic about doing the often unglamorous work of government policymaking when there’s an extremely important political campaign that is staring us in the face," Del Cecato said. "I don’t know if that speaks to a belief that this will be a joyless campaign re-election effort or if it’s something else."

Another point that could indicate trouble is the lack of transparency when it comes to money raised since the launch. Typically, campaigns brag about that amount, while Biden's has been mum, though the fundraising platform ActBlue said it was $6.1 million since the president announced his candidacy.

It doesn't seem Democrats are very excited to get behind the elderly president for a reelection bid that would have him leaving office at the ripe old age of 86. That may not matter to them if Trump is indeed the nominee, however.

"The difference between passion and anxiety is not discernible," Katzenberg said of supporters who may simply be scared of another Trump presidency. "Whether somebody is doing this out of their passion and belief in the president — fantastic," the megadonor said.

"If they’re doing it out of anxiety of what the alternative is — fantastic. The color of the green is the same," Katzenberg stated.

It's no surprise that Democratic voters are less than enthusiastic about another term with Biden. After all, he campaigned from his basement in 2020 and likely won because people saw very little of him.

Now that he's shown to be a disaster, it's even more difficult for voters to get excited to pull the lever for Biden. Since taking office, just about everything in the country has gotten worse, from energy prices to crime and certainly with inflation.

The only hope for Democrats is that Biden steps aside for one reason or another and allows a better candidate to take his place. Until then, they're simply stuck with the feeble, elderly politician whose only positive attribute is that he's not Donald Trump.
