President Joe Biden is facing the most important and precarious situation of his presidency. He responded to that challenge by vacationing in Delaware and failing to slap Russia with sanctions on their oil and gas exports.
The war between Russia and Ukraine is ratcheting up, but Biden left Washington, D.C. to spend the weekend in Delaware, Breitbart reported. Meanwhile, his Ukrainian counterpart is staying put even as his nation is invaded. The past few days have made it clear that Biden isn’t leading the free world and he has no answer to Russian aggression.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters that Biden went home to attend a family funeral and will remain for the weekend. Daughter-in-law Hallie Biden, who was married to the president’s son Beau Biden until his death, lost her mother.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has pledged to stay put even as a Russian invasion of Kyiv appears imminent. According to U.S. intelligence officials, it could be only a matter of days until the city is captured.
“We’re all here. Our military is here. Citizens in society are here. We’re all here defending our independence, our country, and it will stay this way,” Zelensky said in a video posted online.

The American government has offered to evacuate Zelensky, but he has chosen to stay with his people, according to the New York Post. He has allowed his family to flee to safety, however.
Biden has no qualms about leaving his Washington, D.C. post regardless of the crisis he’s supposed to be handling. Less than three weeks after the Taliban retook Afghanistan in August — thanks to his poorly-planned military exit from the nation — Biden was back in his home state.
The president has a right to a vacation or a visit home to attend a funeral. However, when the situation on the ground in Ukraine is so quickly escalating, Biden needs to be in Washington at the ready. Biden already failed once in Afghanistan and now the price for his next failure will be paid by the people of Ukraine.
