Joe Biden targeting dishwashers and vending machines to help combat climate change

President Joe Biden and his administration are now targeting new dishwashers and beverage vending machines as part of their radical climate change agenda.

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) made the announcement on Friday, May 5, 2023, revealing new standards for dishwashers and vending machines.

In addition to this, the DOE also announced a separate final rule, changing the efficiency standards, for certain electric motors - particularly the ones used in manufacturing and processing equipment.

The Biden administration is attempting to sell these changes to the American people by, primarily, making claims about the amount of money that the changes will save.

The DOE, for example, writes:

DOE expects the new rule to save consumers nearly $3 billion in utility bill savings over the ensuing 30 years of shipments and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 12.5 million metric tons—an amount roughly equivalent to the combined annual emissions of 1.6 million homes. DOE also expects the new rule to save 240 billion gallons of water, which is equivalent to the water in 360,000 Olympic-sized pools.

Similarly, the DOE says that the beverage vending machine changes "will save consumers $330 million in utility bills over 30 years of shipments and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 3 million metric tons – and amount of roughly equivalent to the combined annual emissions of 378,000 homes."

One question that many consumers will have is whether these products will still work as desired or whether these products, once they become energy efficient, will lose their effectiveness. The DOE claims the former.

Regarding the dishwasher, the DOE claims, "there are models available today that can meet improved energy and water standards, while providing the cleaning performance that consumers expect from their dishwashers."

We'll see if this turns out to be true. Another concern for consumers will be whether the DOE's changes will cause the price of these appliances to skyrocket. This also remains to be seen, but experts are predicting that it is likely to happen.

These are not the first changes of their kind from the DOE.

The Washington Examiner reports that the DOE has made "more than 100 efficiency-related regulations advanced during President Joe Biden's tenure."

The DOE, itself, admits that it "has now issued proposed or final efficiency standards for 16 product categories so far this year."

And, it's all being done in the name of the left's "climate change" agenda.

U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer M. Granholm released a statement, saying:

This Administration is using all of the tools at our disposal to save Americans money while promoting innovations that will reduce carbon pollution and combat the climate crisis
