Joe Biden resists calls from radical Democrats to pack Supreme Court

After former President Donald Trump had his third Supreme Court pick during the waning days of his term, leftists were already calling for his successor to add more justices. However, President Joe Biden has remained resolute in the status quo.

Even after the high court overturned Roe v. Wade, Biden has said he will not pack the Supreme Court, Fox News reported. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confirmed Saturday that the president “does not agree with it.”

There are currently nine justices on the bench at the high court, with six of them being originalists in their jurisprudence. Packing the court would mean that Biden could add more justices and change that balance, but he doesn’t support that move.

“So, I know I’ve… I was asked this question yesterday, and I’ve been asked it before — and I think the president himself … about expanding the court,” Jean-Pierre said to the press aboard Air Force Once. “That is something that the president does not agree with. That is not something that he wants to do.”

However, other Democrats have been ranting about doing just that. “A stolen, illegitimate, and far-right Supreme Court majority appears set to destroy the right to abortion, an essential right which protects the health, safety, and freedom of millions of Americans,” Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA) said after the decision.

“There is no other recourse. We must expand the court,” he tweeted.

“This court has lost legitimacy,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren also said following the decision. “They have burned whatever legitimacy they may still have had after their gun decision, after their voting decision, after their union decision.”

“They just took the last of it and set a torch to it,” Warren added. “I believe we need to get some confidence back in our court and that means we need more justices on the United States Supreme Court.”

However, Biden has simply urged Congress to pass laws to protect abortions. He is against court-packing for now, but there’s no telling what will happen as the left continues to press the issue.
