President Joe Biden missed Monday's deadline to set the record straight on whether his family received kickbacks from China, Breitbart reported. House Oversight Committee James Comer (R-KY) demanded clarification after the president's son Hunter Biden had fessed up to it.
Joe Biden was asked if several of his family members received a total of $1.3 million through an intermediary in 2017. "Not true,” he claimed.
The president and his spokespeople have repeatedly said Joe Biden wasn't involved in his son's business dealings whatsoever. However, bank records prove that many family members indeed received the money, prompting Comer to give the president the chance to change his statement, Fox News reported.
Bank of America records from 2017 showed that the president's brother James, son Hunter, and daughter-in-law Hallie all received a cut from an account in the name of business associate Rob Walker. The Kentucky Republican gave Joe Biden until March 27 to set the record straight or be revealed as a liar.
"The Committee is concerned about the national security implications of a President's or Vice President's immediate family receiving such lucrative financial deals from foreign nationals and foreign companies without any oversight," Comer said in a letter to White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre earlier this month. "President Biden’s statement was misleading and dishonest," Comer said.
He further revealed that the oversight committee "received the bank documents from a financial institution pursuant to a subpoena." The receipts dated back to 2017, shortly after Joe Biden was replaced as vice president.
The records showed that on March 1, 2017, Chinese-owned State Energy HK Limited made an electronic transfer to Robinson Walker, LLC for $3 million. Those funds were then distributed among the Biden family members and their companies over a period of a few months.
Between March and May of that year, James Biden reportedly received $360,000 through his account "JBBSR INC." Hunter Biden received $100,000 through his "First Clearing, LLC" account.
Hallie Biden, the widow of the president's other son, the late Beau Biden, raked in $25,000 in March 2017. Another account for an unspecified "Biden" got another $70,000.
It isn't just these payouts, however. Hunter Biden's legal team has attested to the veracity of these payments, which gave Comer more ammunition against the president. "Further undercutting President Biden’s assertion, Hunter Biden’s legal team publicly acknowledged he was involved in a ‘joint venture’ with an 'energy company in China’ and ‘shared' his portion of the funds with James and Hallie Biden," Comer wrote.
Indeed, Hunter Biden's spokesperson made the admission as a way to dismiss accusations of impropriety. "Hunter Biden, a private citizen with every right to pursue his own business endeavors, joined several business partners in seeking a joint venture with a privately-owned, legitimate energy company in China," the spokesperson claimed.
"As part of that joint venture, Hunter received his portion of good faith seed funds which he shared with his uncle, James Biden, and Hallie Biden, with whom he was involved with at the time, and sharing expenses," the spokesperson said. Comer slammed the president for attempting to "deny his family's involvement in suspicious foreign financial transactions" even in the face of "overwhelming evidence."
"The American people deserve honest and transparent answers from President Biden related to his family’s questionable foreign business deals," Comer asserted. "The Committee requests that you, as President Biden’s Press Secretary, correct his March 17, 2023, statement that the evidence from the bank records is ‘not true’ or explain, in detail, which financial transactions in the chart below that he is disputing," Comer's statement continued, referencing attached documents.
The walls are closing in on Joe Biden and his crooked family as Republicans turn the screws on him. The president has now missed one opportunity to reverse his lies, and things will only get worse from here for him.
