President Joe Biden is attempting a government gun grab after calling the right to purchase semi-automatic firearms "just sick," the Daily Caller reported. The president said this on the heels of two mass murders involving guns.
Biden was speaking at a press event in Nantucket, Massachusetts, Thursday. He was using the shooting at a Denver, Colorado nightclub last weekend and another Chesapeake, Virginia Walmart Tuesday as the impetus for such a radical assault on Second Amendment rights.
"The idea we still allow semi-automatic weapons to be purchased is sick. Just sick," Biden told the press.
"It has no, no social redeeming value. Zero. None," he continued. "Not a single solitary rationale for it except profit for the gun manufacturers," Biden claimed.
However, what the president is proposing would make nearly all modern weapons illegal. Semi-automatic simply means that the gun does not need to be manually advanced after each round is fired like a revolver.
Biden's ban would outlaw most pistols and several types of shotguns and rifles. When asked what he would do about gun rights before the new Congress is sworn in, the president made his intentions clear in no uncertain terms.
"I'm going to try to get rid of assault weapons," Biden told the reporter. "I'm going to do it whenever — I've got to make that assessment as I get in and start counting votes," he claimed.
Democrats often use gun violence to justify more restrictions on the rights of law-abiding citizens. The recent shootings in the last week are no different.
Despite having no evidence that the shooting at Club Q on Nov. 19 was a hate crime, the leftist media blamed people like Fox News's Tucker Carlson for inciting the crime, Fox News reported. The narrative was that opposing things like "taking toddlers to drag shows" caused 22-year-old Anderson Lee Aldrich to lash out.
As it would turn out, Aldrich is himself non-binary and goes by they/them pronouns. The hate crime story has fallen apart, but blaming the weapon never fails for leftists.
Although a stronger anti-gun case could be made about Andre Bing, the 31-year-old supervisor that killed six of his Walmart co-workers, the facts demonstrate the complexity of these kinds of crimes. Bing was able to purchase the weapon the day of the crime because he had no criminal record, the Associated Press reported.
However, it seems that his mental state was the most significant factor rather than access to the weapon itself. Bing described himself as having "social deficits" that his parents ignored, and co-workers sometimes found him hostile and quick to anger.
Still, Biden purposely ignored the contributing factors for either crime and instead focused on stripping millions of Americans of their rights. "This year, I signed the most significant gun reform in a generation, but that is not nearly enough. We must take greater action," he said in a statement following Bing's shooting.
There's no evidence that taking away weapons will prevent disturbed individuals from committing mass murders. However, Democrats will continue to push for it because a disarmed populace is easier to control -- and their radical base will applaud them for it.
