Joe Biden ignores reporters questions on newly discovered classified documents kept unlawfully

President Joe Biden ignored reporters' questions about classified documents found unlawfully kept at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement, the Western Journal reported. These documents date back to his time as vice president and have exposed a glaring double standard.

The president was at the National Palace in Mexico City Tuesday to meet with Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador and other officials. As a meeting came to a close, a reporter asked about the new revelation.

"Any response to the discovery of classified documents at your office?" a reporter shouted to Biden as the meeting wrapped up. The president didn't bother to answer and continued to shuffle papers.

The question Biden ignored was a significant one that demands answers. A bombshell report Monday revealed that classified documents were found in a locked closet at the think tank.

The discovery was made two months ago -- before the 2022 midterm elections -- but somehow is only now being reported on. "The documents were discovered when the president’s personal attorneys were packing files housed in a locked closet to prepare to vacate office space at the Penn Biden Center in Washington, D.C.," a statement from Richard Sauber, a special counsel to Biden, said.

"The president periodically used this space from mid-2017 until the start of the 2020 campaign," Sauber added. "On the day of this discovery, November 2, 2022, the White House Counsel’s Office notified the National Archives. The Archives took possession of the materials the following morning," Sauber claimed.

“The discovery of these documents was made by the President’s attorneys. The documents were not the subject of any previous request or inquiry by the Archives," Sauber added.

"Since that discovery, the President’s personal attorneys have cooperated with the Archives and the Department of Justice in a process to ensure that any Obama-Biden Administration records are appropriately in the possession of the Archives.” Perhaps it was an innocent oversight or simple incompetence.

The problem is that no such allowances were made for former President Donald Trump when a similar situation unfolded for him. In August, the FBI raided Trump's Mar-o-Lago residence ostensibly to recover classified documents kept in a locked closet there. At the time, Biden was critical because Trump was the target.

"How does that happen? How could anyone be that irresponsible?" Biden said in September during a "60 Minutes" interview on CBS.

It appears both men have had trouble keeping their documents straight, but only one has been raided because of it. Rep. James Comer (R-KY) called Biden out on this point.

"Now we learn that Joe Biden had documents that are considered classified," he said. "I wonder, is the National Archives going to trigger a raid of the White House tonight? Or of the Biden Center?" Comer said.

The Kentucky lawmaker is the odds-on favorite to become chairman of the House Oversight Committee and may have a say in whether that happens. "So now we’re going to take that information that we requested on the Mar-a-Lago raid, and we’re going to expand it to include the documents that Joe Biden has," Comer promised.

Biden and the Democrats were the ones who set the standard for raiding officials who had classified documents in an unauthorized area. Surely Biden won't mind when the investigators search his home -- if the GOP gets its way, that is.
