Joe Biden had cancerous lesions removed from his chest

Fox News reports that President Joe Biden recently had cancerous lesions removed from his chest.

The cancerous tissue was removed during a routine physical examination that Biden underwent on Feb. 16. Information about the procedure has been provided by Biden's longtime doctor, Dr. Kevin O'Connor.

Tests were performed on the tissue that was removed from Biden's chest, and those tests revealed that the lesions were basal cell carcinoma.

According to SkinCancer.org:

Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common form of skin cancer and the most frequently occurring form of all cancers. In the U.S. alone, an estimated 3.6 million cases are diagnosed each year. BCCs arise from abnormal, uncontrolled growth of basal cells.

SkinCancer.org goes on to state, "Because BCCs grow slowly, most are curable and cause minimal damage when caught and treated early."

The fact that BCCs grow slowly is particularly important. It means that the cancer is usually confined to an area on the skin's surface, which allows for removal. It also means that the cancer often does not become life-threatening.

The specifics of Biden's situation are unclear. But, according to O'Connor, "all cancerous tissue was successfully removed." O'Connor added that Biden's chest has "healed nicely" and that, going forward, Biden will continue to get routine skin screenings to watch out for any more potentially cancerous lesions.

This is not Biden's first run-in with skin cancer. According to O'Connor, Biden actually had "several localized non-melanoma skin cancers" removed from his body before he entered the presidency.

O'Connor attributes Biden's skin lesions to him having spent a substantial amount of time in the sun when he was younger.

In terms of Biden's health overall, O'Connor, following his Feb. 16 physical of Biden, claimed that the president is "a healthy, vigorous, 80-year-old male, who is fit to successfully execute the duties of the Presidency, to include those as Chief Executive, Head of State and Commander in Chief.”

Significantly, however, O'Connor did not address concerns that many have about Biden's mental health.

Based on O'Connor's report, it does not appear as though he gave Biden a cognitive test, which many of Biden's critics, including former White House Physician and current U.S. Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX), have called for.

Jackson recently tweeted:

It’s TERRIFYING for our country that Biden is our commander-in-chief. He doesn’t know where he’s at half the time, and every day he brings us closer to an all-out war with Russia & China. His cognitive decline is going to get people KILLED!!

Biden's mental health will be a significant issue going forward, particularly if he chooses to pursue reelection in 2024, which appears likely.
