Joe Biden gives up on Ukraine, opens the door for Russia to invade

These are serious times and they call for serious leadership. Unfortunately, President Joe Biden is seriously lacking any of the necessary skills to do just that.

In his press conference Wednesday, Biden seemed to suggest it was inevitable for Russia to invade Ukraine, Breitbart reported. Russian President Vladimir Putin has been saber-rattling and amassing troops at the nation’s border with little will to stop him.

Despite the strong indications of military action from Russia, Biden mostly ruled out any in-kind response from NATO. The president’s comment that Putin “will move in, he has to do something” suggests resignation rather than a strong stance against it.

However, Biden has promised to do the only thing that weak Democratic administrations ever do — impose sanctions. “He’s never seen sanctions like the ones I’ve promised will be imposed if he moves,” Biden warned.

The president also suggested Putin would face “severe economic consequences,” including limiting the use of American dollars within Russian financial institutions. Aside from that, Biden dismissed or excused Putin’s stance rather than addressing what to do about it.

“He is trying to find his place in the world between China and the West,” Biden explained of Putin’s reason for acting out. “I’m not so sure he is certain what he’s going to do. My guess is he will move in, he has to do something,” the president said.

Like a misguided parent, Biden seemed to suggest that natural consequences would be enough of a deterrent for a man like Putin. “But I think, as usual, he’s going to — I probably shouldn’t go any further. I think it will hurt him badly,” Biden said.

In the face of rising tensions, Biden seems to be shrugging his shoulders and accepting the inevitability of all of it. The lack of leadership is disgraceful, especially at a time when the stakes are so high.
