Joe Biden claims zero inflation in economy, fact checkers radio silent

President Joe Biden is in political trouble thanks to inflation. Rather than address the problem he created, the White House has chosen to lie about it.

Conservatives on social media cried foul as Biden suggested there was “zero” inflation in the economy last month, Fox News reported. However, a recent report indicates that inflation remains near the 40-year high.

“Before I begin today, I want to say a word about news that came out today relative to the economy,” Biden said at a White House address Wednesday. “Actually, I just want to say a number: Zero.”

“Today, we received news that our economy had zero percent inflation in the month of July,” the president added. However, it’s unclear how he arrived at that conclusion based on the actual figures.

The Consumer Price Index reported that prices “rose 8.5% in July from a year ago, below the 9.1% year-over-year surge recorded in June.” Perhaps the administration was trying to spin the news by comparing inflation month over month since the CPI was .2% lower than June.

However, Republicans excoriated Biden and rightly accused him of lying. “The price of food is up 10.9% from this time last year—another 40+ year high,” Sen Tim Scott (R-SC) tweeted. “President Biden can try to spin it however he wants, but the American people know that today’s inflation report is bad news,” he added.

“Highest food prices since Jimmy Carter and the White House is trying to convince people inflation is 0% and they’re doing great,” Matt Whitlock, a GOP communications specialist, tweeted. “They’re not just going to get crushed in November for failing. They’re going to get crushed for lying to everyone and saying it’s all fine,” Whitlock predicted.

Biden and his cronies will lie about the problem, and the media will back him up. However, a trip to the gas pump or grocery store tells Americans everything they need to know about the state of inflation — and how dishonest this administration routinely is.
