Joe Biden catches heat from members of his own party for his El Paso border visit

President Joe Biden failed the country on the immigration issue at the southern U.S. border, and even though he made a brief visit to the border city of El Paso, Texas on Sunday, the trip didn't satisfy his critics on the right and even some of the most prominent members of his own party.

According to the Washington Examiner, Biden's visit to the border came in the wake of some rather unpopular changes to his failed border policies -- changes that a number of progressive Democrats can't stand.

"While we understand the challenges the nation is facing at the Southern border exacerbated by Republican obstruction to modernizing our immigration system, we are deeply disappointed by the Biden Administration’s decision to expand the use of Title 42," a group of Democratic senators wrote.

And you read that correctly, they blamed Republicans for their "obstruction" in "modernizing" immigration. Go figure.

The progressive senators described one popular policy kept in place, Trump's Title 42 policy, as a "failed and inhumane Trump-era policy."

The Examiner noted: "Polling shows a sharp partisan divide on the issue of immigration, which helps explain the delicate balance Biden seeks to strike. A Pew Research Center survey from September found that 73% of all respondents said increasing border security should be a goal, with 91% of Republicans and 59% of Democrats agreeing."

While Biden appears to be, at least somewhat, shifting the tide as far as his previous pro-immigration, open-border policies, he still can't resist kowtowing to the radical left of his party.

"Meanwhile, 80% of Democrats favored establishing a way for most illegal immigrants to stay legally, compared to just 37% of Republicans," the Examiner noted.

Biden was ripped across social media for his visit to El Paso. City officials had spent the previous night cleaning up the streets of the city to make it appear as if there weren't just massive numbers of migrant encampments just days before his visit.

Biden's visit to the border looks as though it has backfired overall.

Time will tell.
