Joe Biden announces new executive order on gun control issues

The best way to tell when a Democrat becomes desperate for attention from his or her base is when they pivot from everything else going on in the world and focus on "gun control."

That's exactly what happened this week as President Joe Biden, according to The Daily Wire, unveiled an executive order that would, "without legislation," bolster background checks, increase the ability to use "red flag" laws, and other silly, nonsensical "gun control" items that will do virtually nothing to tackle gun crime in America, which is perpetrated by criminals who largely do not abide by laws.

Biden made the announcement in Monterey Park, California this week at the site of a previous mass shooting.

"We remember and mourn today," Biden said in Monterey Park. "But I’m here with you today to act."

The only acting he's doing is what amounts to skirting the Constitution and going around Congress to push the Democrats' fantasy of believing that more gun control legislation will have an impact on gun violence.

"President Biden (@POTUS) announced an executive order to implement backdoor universal background registration checks (UBCs) WITHOUT CONGRESS OR A NEW LAW. 😠 This is a direct violation of the Constitution & will do NOTHING to keep firearms out of the hands of criminals," Gun Owners of America tweeted.

"I'm here on behalf of the American people, to mourn with you, to pray with you. To let you know you're loved and not alone. Every case is different. But I know what it's like. I know what that's like to get that call," Biden said during his speech.

Biden also renewed his push to ban "assault weapons" and "high-capacity magazines."

"But let's be clear, none of this absorbs Congress the responsibility from -- from the responsibility of acting to pass universal background checks, eliminate gun manufacturers immunity from liability and I am determined once again to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. I led that fight in ban them in 1994," the president said.

"The ten years that law was in place, mass shootings went down. Our Republican friends let it expire," Biden said. "Ten years later, and mass shootings tripled since then, tripled. So, let's finish the job. Ban assault weapons ban them again. Do it now. Enough do something do something big."

Republicans in Congress have expressed concerns about the executive order and its legality.

Hopefully, it will be challenged in federal court and shot down as it should be.
