Jim Acosta admits he will take a softer approach to Biden than Trump

CNN’s attack dog White House correspondent, Jim Acosta — under the guise of “defending the press” from President Trump — spent the last four years being as obnoxious as possible to President Trump and all of his press secretaries.

Now, with a possible Biden presidency looming, questions arise about how Jim Acosta and his ilk would treat Biden and his administration. Unsurprisingly, Acosta recently confessed to The Atlantic he would take a softer approach.

In the last four years, Acosta’s questions to President Trump were so hostile and loaded that he was banned at one point from the White House press corps. During a press conference for President Trump and the president of Kazakhastan, Acosta asked racially-charged questions with the intent to paint President Trump as a racist and embarrass him on the world stage.

Assuming that Joe Biden will end up in the White House, questions arise about whether the White House press corps will treat Biden in a similarly hostile fashion.

Acosta’s answer was a tacit admission that CNN was “whipping up” controversy with Trump for ratings when he denied that CNN would be doing the same thing with a Biden presidency. He said, “I don’t think the press should be trying to whip up the Biden presidency and turn it into must-see TV in a contrived way.”

Acosta, according to The Atlantic, justified the change in tactics. He claimed that President Trump was trying to discredit “the press.”

In his view, Trump’s campaign to discredit the press has constituted a “nonstop national emergency,” one that required a defiant response. “If being at the White House is not an experience that might merit hazard pay,” he said, “then perhaps it is going to be approached differently.”

Acosta, along with the majority of the press corps, equated President Trump’s labeling them as “fake news” as an attack on “the press.”

But CNN, and other mainstream media outlets have been lying and implying rather than reporting on the Trump administration. That is journalistic malpractice and “fake news.”

Acosta and the other fake journalists will treat Biden with more respect because he is their candidate, but don’t expect them to do any real journalism in Biden’s White House press corps either. As another reporter put it, “…it will not be a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week job to fact-check Biden.”
