The office of First Lady Jill Biden released an apology to the Latino community over criticisms related to her comparing Hispanics to breakfast tacos during a speech.
The San Antonio speech led to harsh words from Hispanics offended over the incident.

“The First Lady apologizes that her words conveyed anything but pure admiration and love for the Latino community,” wrote Press Secretary to the First Lady Michael LaRosa.
“Raul helped build this organization with the understanding that the diversity of this community—as distinct as the bodegas of the Bronx, as beautiful as the blossoms of Miami, and as unique as the breakfast tacos here in San Antonio—is your strength,” Biden had said during the speech.

The invitation was intended to strengthen Biden’s connections with Hispanic Democrat voters in Texas. Instead, it may have made matters worse.
The out-of-touch comment may now be the only thing people remember from the event that sought to encourage votes in the coming midterms.
