White House press secretary Jen Psaki doesn’t have an enviable job. Besides routinely lying to the press, she’s also left to cover for President Joe Biden’s many gaffes.
Biden was just caught snapping at reporters Friday who were asking about the recent troop withdrawal from Bagram Air Force Base in Afghanistan, the Daily Wire reported. Though Biden became frustrated during queries about the war, Psaki later denied that his admonishment had anything to do with their questions.
“I’m not going to answer any more quick questions on Afghanistan. Look, it’s Fourth of July,” Biden told a reporter after answering a few inquiries about the apparent drawdown. “I’m concerned that you guys are asking me questions that I’ll answer next week,” Biden continued. “But I’m — this is a holiday weekend I’m going to celebrate it.”
Biden seemed annoyed by the questions despite the fact that it’s a relevant topic. Though he seemed to regain his composure, this is indicative of some of Biden’s uncontrolled volatility.
The U.S. has been in conflict in Afghanistan for two decades, a fact that many have decided is too long. However, this withdrawal comes at a time when military leaders have warned that the Taliban may take the opportunity to topple the government, USA Today reported.
American troops arrived shortly after 9/11 to fight al-Qaeda and the Taliban and have been there ever since. Other allied nations have pulled out of the base already, signaling an end to the conflict there.
However, Biden seemed very annoyed that the press kept bringing the important issue that was just breaking. When a reporter asked about his reaction to their questions, Psaki simply lied.
“It wasn’t related to Afghanistan,” Psaki told the reporters. She also tried to minimize another gaffe, walking back some of the boasting the administration did about the lower cost of food this year after they were pummelled on social media because reality was a whole $0.16 in savings.

What’s happening in Afghanistan is relevant, but Biden isn’t always the steady world leader he needs to be. Because of that, he often relies on Psaki to cover up for him — including telling bald-faced lies.
