President Joe Biden has told many lies in his short time in office. Now, former Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is challenging his biggest whopper yet.
Bezos called out the Biden administration for trying to deflect from the president’s role in the inflation crisis by going after him instead, the Daily Caller reported. The president had previously said inflation would be solved when they “make sure the wealthiest corporations pay their fair share.”
Bezos called Biden’s suggestion “misinformation” and sniped at the administration for placing the blame on corporations. “The newly created Disinformation Board should review this tweet, or maybe they need to form a new Non Sequitur Board instead,” Bezos tweeted Friday.
In turn, the administration released a statement doubling down on the assertion that it is the “richest taxpayers and corporations” are to blame. “It’s also unsurprising that this tweet comes after the President met with labor organizers, including Amazon employees,” the statement said of Bezos.
“Look, a squirrel! This is the White House’s statement about my recent tweets,” Bezos said in his retort to the statement in another thread on Twitter. “They understandably want to muddy the topic. They know inflation hurts the neediest the most,” he pointed out.
“But unions aren’t causing inflation, and neither are wealthy people,” Bezos continued. “Remember the Administration tried their best to add another $3.5 TRILLION to federal spending. They failed, but if they had succeeded, inflation would be even higher than it is today, and inflation today is at a 40 year high.”
Sunday brought another round of sparring between Biden and Bezos after the White House tried to blame former President Donald Trump for the out-of-control spending that contributes to inflation. Bezos disputed claims that Biden was trying to “cut the deficit by $1.5 trillion” and pointed out that the Biden “tried hard to inject even more stimulus into an already over-heated, inflationary economy and only [Sen. Joe Manchin] saved them from themselves.”
Bezos is right that combating inflation takes more than picking the pockets of the rich. However, the Biden administration has been spinning those lies to deflect from the undeniable truth — the president is single-handedly destroying the economy.
