New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo was the darling of the media in the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis for his adversarial relationship with former President Donald Trump. Yet all along, Cuomo was covering up a major secret.
Author and Fox News senior meteorologist Janice Dean just went public with claims that she has faced threats for confronting Cuomo about covering up nursing home deaths, Blaze Media reported. Dean, whose husband lost both of his parents to COVID-19 in New York nursing homes, was told to watch her back when she came forward with her powerful story.
In an opinion piece published in USA Today in July, Dean took aim at Cuomo for his role in the deaths of Micky and Dee Newman. “My husband’s parents died of coronavirus in their elder care facilities,” she wrote. “We lost his dad in late March and his mom two weeks later. My family wasn’t able to see them before they died, they weren’t given last rites, wakes, or funerals. They died alone.”
She went on to blame Cuomo’s March 25 order that forced nursing homes to take COVID-19 patients back into nursing homes to recover. At the time her piece was published, the facts about the ensuing coverup had yet to be revealed.
It came to light last month that his administration was purposely underreporting the number of coronavirus deaths in nursing homes, the New York Post reported. Lawmakers are launching an investigation into it, but Dean said the Cuomo family is a formidable adversary.
“From the very beginning, I got an email from someone that knows the Cuomo family very well that said to me ‘I’m sorry for your loss’ — something we never heard from the governor by the way — ‘your fight is a valiant one, but watch your back,” she told Dave Rubin, host of “The Rubin Report” on BlazeTV. “I knew that early on that I was in for the fight,” she said.
“I heard that he was vindictive, that he was a bully,” Dean continued. Along the same lines, Dean also said that she thinks Cuomo’s sexual harassment scandal is about his thirst for power, that Cuomo’s “whole MO is about ‘I’m the most powerful guy and I can do whatever I want,’ so now it doesn’t surprise me that he’s treated women badly.” Dean also mentioned that Cuomo even bullies his staff.
Cuomo’s fall from grace will be precipitous because the media falsely propped him up. Rather than being the savior of the world during the pandemic, he forced many vulnerable people to their deaths with his nursing home policy. Janice Dean was willing to stand up to Cuomo, and now it seems she will be the least of his problems as the rest of his conduct slowly comes to light.
