Jan. 6 Committee’s final report leaked: Details inside

The committee on January 6th, which is run by House Democrats, intends to present its concluding "report" on the turmoil that occurred at the U.S. Capitol after the 2020 election.

According to the Conservative Brief, before Republicans take over the U.S. House of Representatives in early January, sources told Politico about the "chapter list" that will be in the report.

"The committee members are expected to formally approve the report at a Dec. 21 public meeting of the panel described by Chair Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.). Lawmakers will be able to propose final edits before the draft is expected to be sent to the Government Publishing Office for printing later this week," the report stated.

"The final report, according to those briefed on it, will have eight chapters that align closely with the evidence the panel unveiled during its public hearings in June and July," the document went on.

Kyle Cheney, a senior legal affairs reporter for @POLITICO whose Twitter bio states he has "a focus on 1/6 aftermath," stated, "Jan. 6 committee members have been reviewing drafts of their final report for weeks. We have some of the first details of what the report will look like — including chapter topics."

The supposed "chapters" of the final report include Trump's effort to sow distrust in the results of the election and Trump's pressure on state governments or legislatures to overturn victories by Joe Biden, as well as the Trump campaign's efforts to send pro-Trump electors to Washington from states won by Biden.

The Politico report went on to say that the report includes information on: Trump's push to deploy the Justice Department in service of his election scheme, the pressure campaign by Trump and his lawyers against then-Vice President Mike Pence; Trump's effort to summon supporters to Washington who later fueled the Jan. 6 mob; the 187 minutes during which Trump refused to tell rioters to leave the Capitol and an analysis of the attack on the Capitol.

The committee's chairman, Mississippi Democrat Rep. Bennie Thompson, told reporters last week that the panel has not yet whittled down the potential referrals to the DOJ.

When a reporter questioned Thompson about whether or not he thought any witnesses had lied in their testimony to the committee, he responded, "That's part of the conversation."

Before the Republicans take over the U.S. House in January, the committee's investigation is about to come to a close.

Now, several have expressed their annoyance with departing Republican Rep. Liz Cheney, who has angered House Committee employees for her insistence on criticizing former President Donald Trump.

The Wyoming Republican is allegedly working behind the scenes to ensure that the final report focuses exclusively on former President Donald Trump at the detriment of other crucial material, according to at least 15 current and former committee staffers, according to the Washington Post.

"We all came from prestigious jobs, dropping what we were doing because we were told this would be an important fact-finding investigation that would inform the public," a former staffer told the outlet. "But when [the committee] became a Cheney 2024 campaign, many of us became discouraged."
