Jalen Kitna, son of former NFL player Jon Kitna, kicked off Florida Gators football team

The Florida Gators made the easy decision to release a 19-year-old player after he was arrested for transmitting child pornography over a Discord server, Breitbart reported.

Jalen Kitna, the 19-year-old son of former NFL player Jon Kitna, was released from the team in utter disgrace for his alleged actions.

The University of Florida club made the shocking announcement on Friday.

The situation turned around quickly, as the school discovered news of Kitna's arrest on Wednesday, making the announcement less than 48 hours later.

The Gainesville, Florida police department issued a statement on Kitna's arrest, calling it a "child exploitation" arrest. The department credited the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) for assisting with the investigation that took Kitna down.

"His parents, Jon and Jennifer Kitna, promised Judge Meshon Rawls that they would supervise their 19-year-old son at home in Burleson, Texas. Jon Kitna, who played 14 seasons in the NFL, serves as a high school coach in Burleson," ESPN noted.

According to Breitbart, Kitna was released from jail on an $80,000 bond after only about a day's stay in jail. "Under the terms of his release, Kitna is to have no unsupervised access to minors and no internet access whatsoever."

Kitna has also been barred from the University of Florida for a period of three years. That could change depending on the outcome of his court case. His suspension from the team was described as "indefinite."

ESPN added: "Kitna is facing two counts of distribution of child exploitation material and three counts of possession of child pornography. Two of the five charges, which still need to be formalized by the state attorney's office, are second-degree felonies that could result in a prison term of up to 15 years and a fine of up to $10,000. The other three are third-degree felonies."

Kitna, a freshman red-shirt quarterback, only appeared in four games. He logged solid stats for the short time that he played for the team. With his last name recognition, and if he played up to par, he might have had an above-average chance at a solid professional career someday.

Instead, he chose to ruin his life and disgrace his family's name. What an absolute shame.
