Internet reacts to Morgan Freeman's gloved hand

Morgan Freeman served as a source of much discussion from his Oscars appearance on Sunday, but it wasn't over his distinctive voice or acting.

Freeman wore a black glove on his left hand, leading to speculation about the reason behind it.

The story

“I suffered nerve damage and it hasn’t gotten better. I can’t move it,” Freeman said in a 2010 interview with People, according to Hollywood.com.

“If you don’t move your hand, it will swell up. Do you know you move your hand about a million times a day?” he added.

It's not the first time the 85-year-old actor has worn a glove. Freeman caused speculation in 2018 when he wore a glove to the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

He was also spotted wearing the glove during the World Cup in 2022.

Freeman also struggles with fibromyalgia. During an interview with Esquire in 2012, interviewer, Tom Chiarella explained: “It hurts when he walks, when he sits still, when he rises from his couch, and when he missteps in a damp meadow.

"More than hurts. It seems a kind of agony, though he never mentions it. Despite surgery to repair nerve damage, he was stuck with a useless left hand.

"It is stiffly gripped by a compression glove most of the time to ensure that blood doesn’t pool there. It is a clamp, his pain, an icy shot up a relatively useless limb.”

The bald look

Freeman also surprised many viewers over his new bald look.

"The actor, who was recently spotted sporting long dreadlocks, showed he's since changed his unrecognizable 'do for one that's just as unexpected," Parade reported.

"While stepping on stage with Margot Robbie to celebrate 100 years of Warner Bros., Freeman showed off his newly bald dome," it added.

Freeman's latest film "A Good Person" arrives in theaters on March 24. Freeman plays Daniel, "a grieving father who forms an unexpected bond with Allison (Florence Pugh), the woman who caused his daughter's deadly accident," according to Parade.

"A Good Person" is written and directed by Zach Braff in the latest of many hits for Freeman whose well-known voice continues to amaze viewers despite his gloved hand.
