In perfect storm of events, Kamala Harris could be president for 10 years

The thought of President Joe Biden serving another term in the White House is scary enough. Still, now some experts believe there's a scenario in which America could see Kamala Harris serving a record-setting term, as president.

Mike Davis, former Senate Judiciary Committee staffer and current head of a conservative legal organization, laid out a wild scenario that could place Harris in the White House for a staggering 10-year period.

Of course, quite a bit would need to happen for such a scenario to play out, but the mere fact that it's even on the table as an actual possibility should be enough to keep you up at night.

"Per the 22nd Amendment, if President Biden leaves office after January 20, 2023, a President Harris could still run for two 4-year terms (10 years total). If Biden left office before then, Harris could only run for one 4-year term (6 years total)," Davis tweeted.

Conservative Brief noted:

The most recent incident of a vice president having the opportunity to serve more than two terms occurred in the wake of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination in November 1963. Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson became president and served the remaining one-and-a-half years of Kennedy’s term, ran successfully for president on his own in 1964, and was eligible to run again in 1968. He chose not to because of his unpopularity, driven in large part by the then-ongoing Vietnam War.

Responses to Davis' scenario were all over the map. Many social media users had their own ideas about how to prevent such a disaster from occurring.

"I said this since the day Biden picker her as a running mate. The plan from the beginning (within Biden knowing) was to install her 1 day after Biden has been in office for 2 yrs. Why do you think she hasn't done anything," one Twitter user wrote.

"Her running for 're-election' is the least of my concerns! Her being 'at the wheel' far tops that!" another Twitter user wrote.

As far as her reelection chances, that plays into the "perfect storm" scenario. If there's any relief to Davis' roadmap to Harris becoming president for 10 years, it's that she would need to experience a wild, nearly incalculable swing in the polls, as she's a deeply unpopular person in the Democratic Party.

“As of Jan. 3, 39% of registered voters had a favorable opinion of Harris and 53% had an unfavorable opinion — a net rating of -14 percentage points, according to a Times average. This page will update as new polls arrive," The Los Angeles Times noted.

The outlet added: "Since taking office, Harris has been assigned one of the administration’s thorniest issues: stemming the influx of immigrants attempting to cross U.S. borders. Republicans have sought to make her the face of an issue that they believe could help them politically."
