Former business partner of first son Hunter Biden who previously ran an investment firm and made frequent trips to the White House during the Obama administration.
According to a report by The Daily Caller, Eric Schwerin went to the Obama White House on at least 19 occasions, according to the visitor logs from the administration between 2009 and 2015.
Included in the incidents were several sit-down talks with then-Vice President Joe Biden, something that seems to indicate excessive access to the top executive figures in the White House for the friends of Hunter Biden, particularly considering that logs showed that Schwerin met with Biden in the West Wing on Nov. 17, 2010, when he was president of the now-defunct Rosemont Seneca Partners.
“The logs appear to reveal that Schwerin met with close aides of both Joe and Jill Biden when Hunter was striking multi-million dollar deals in foreign countries, such as China,” the Daily Caller reported.
“Schwerin was the closest of Hunter Biden’s business partners and had personal access to both Bidens’ tax filings. The hard drive of his laptop, which he abandoned at a Delaware computer repair store in April 2019, revealed emails that showed Schwerin’s intimate involvement with Joe Biden’s personal taxes, the Post reported.”
Emails that were revealed in Hunter Biden’s laptop show that the vice president’s assistant for intergovernmental affairs and public liaison for Rosemont Seneca, Evan Ryan, received a request from Chris Sloan, Director of Government Relations for the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, advocating for the appointment of union lawyer Craig Becker to the National Labor Relations Board.
Sloan asked the then-vice president to press then-President Barack Obama on the issue, and then second-son Hunter Biden was copied on the email: “Thanks Chris – I will forward this one,” she responded to both.
It was later seen that Obama did appoint Becker to the job during a recess appointment a month later, which caused a big pushback from congressional Republicans, according to Fox News at the time.
Multiple other instances of Schwerin making appearances at the White House, pushing the Vice President to move in a certain direction, have Republicans wondering just how much influence Hunter’s friends had on the former Vice President.
