How We Can Fix This Great Country, Starting With 3 Easy Steps

It’s been obvious for quite a while that our country is coming apart at the seams. People on all sides are upset, and they want to punish their political opponents. We aren’t able to disagree in a productive way. We demonize one another; we are too partisan; and we are definitely too angry. This isn’t unique to the right or the left. It’s all of us.

If the riots in Washington, and those before them in cities across America, didn’t prove we have grown out of control, then nothing will. There were, of course, well-meaning people in Washington who were there because they love their country and who did not condone the worst behavior. The same was true of the Black Lives Matter marches around the country, which were populated by a lot of people with good intentions coupled with a radical element intent on destruction. Nonetheless, the images from the Capitol are hard to watch.

The big question is, what do we do now? How do we come together and heal a broken country? There are certainly policy changes we need to debate, but our problems are deeper than policy. Before we begin those debates, we need to change our culture.

The first step is for those in positions of power to realize how frustrated and unhappy many Americans are. Low wage growth coupled with massively increasing costs for things like health care and education have left people feeling stagnant and worried about a lack of opportunity for themselves and their children. People at the upper ends of our income scale are not just surviving but thriving like never before. Globalism, automation and all that comes with them are an amazing boon for a tiny number of Americans, and they are causing a lot of pain for a great many more.

COVID-19 has exacerbated this dynamic. Addressing our growing inequality without killing our economic growth and the dynamism so essential for our economy is amazingly difficult and complicated. We have spent too little time and effort thinking through these issues. It’s easy for those doing well to laugh at the crazies, and some of last week’s behavior gave them all the more reason to do so. But that is precisely the attitude that brought us to the sad place we are at.

For those of us not in positions of power, the vast majority of Americans, we have to decide if we have a country worth saving. If we do, then we all have to change our behavior. There are practical things each of us can do. I’ve already started, and it’s working for me. Maybe this plan can work for others.

No. 1: Turn off the TV.

Cable news is bad for you. It doesn’t matter if you are addicted to Fox or MSNBC. It’s all infotainment. With some notable exceptions, and there are some, TV is not designed to inform or educate you. TV producers are a lot like the engineers who obsess over how to keep us in casinos. Casinos famously spend amazing amounts of time and money figuring out how to keep people at the tables: the sounds, the air pumped in, the free drinks and the confusing layouts with the hidden exits. These are not perks or design flaws. They are all deliberately placed to keep you in your seat gambling more than you planned on.

Most cable news is the same. They know what you are emotional about, and they play it up to keep you watching. If guests aren’t partisan enough, the producers tell them to up the volume and the rancor. This can make for entertaining programming, but it’s not good for us.

Try stopping. You will feel better.

No. 2: Read news from a variety of sources.

The largest newsrooms with the most in-depth news coverage are still the traditional liberal corporate media behemoths. If you aren’t reading The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times or The Washington Post, you are missing out on a lot of good reporting. But if you are only reading those outlets, then you are missing out on a great deal of news they are either too biased to cover or determined to cover unfairly. Each of those outlets has grown even more liberal over the years, so if you want a more complete picture, balance that diet out with reporting from newer, independent news sources working hard to bring you information and ideas that are missing from corporate media.

I founded the Daily Caller, so I don’t pretend to be unbiased here, but we have a 100-person newsroom producing a couple of hundred pieces of real news, grounded in hard facts, every single day. We fill in many gaps that the corporate media overlooks because of their own biases. And we aren’t the only ones. The Washington Examiner, for example, does the same.

No. 3: Speak with more people outside your political bubble.

We are spending too much time in our bubbles. The internet has made everything more efficient, and we can easily find news or information that confirms our personal biases and read nothing else. Too many people do this. It’s lazy. It’s not healthy. We all have friends or family that we disagree with politically. It’s good to debate people with different views. You may learn something new, or at least understand where the other side is coming from. They can do the same. Anyone who isn’t doing this regularly should really start.

Our country is in pain right now. If we don’t begin to heal, there is no telling where things will go. If recent events don’t convince every American that we need to try to come together, then God help us all. We have an amazing country, unique and impressive in so many ways. It’s worth fixing. Given where we are, though, things are not going to fix themselves. It’s easy to pretend that the problem is just with our leaders or with the people who think differently, but it’s not. We have the leaders we deserve. We are the problem. We each have some responsibility for the sad place we are at, and we each have a role to play in fixing it. I hope we try.

The FBI revealed on Wednesday that the unrest in Washington, D.C. was pre-planned and not encouraged by President Donald Trump, meaning the social media networks acted presumptively.

No platform has since apologised for inaccurately suggesting the president incited violence.

Check out Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals. It will help with seeing what’s happening in our society. There is no rhyme or reason to what they do except to destroy America as best they can. And to gain power for themselves. Stop them!!!

pelosi’s son in law was one of the antifa that was let in by security forces waving them in and pointing to them which way to go. The time frame of the speech that the PRESIDENT was making and the time antifa was let in the building are only a few minutes apart so I guess pelosi should charge her son in law for the brake in not the PRESIDENT. SEMPER FIDELIS

Democrats hated Pres Trump from the very beginning because HE WAS NOT AND IS NOT a politician. They were and are so afraid of him–that he will undercover their political agenda!

If the Democrats are going to use the 14th amendment to get rid of Senators Cruz and Hawley then Joe Biden must be removed immediately for his participation in the attempted coup against President and any other Obama administration personnel he has chosen for his cabinet.

I do all these. I don’t hate but I really hurt when I see the immature AOC dancing a happy jig when she thinks they have impeached a sitting president without getting all the facts first, will she do the same when President-elect gets impeached if he does? I was taught years ago and expect to see it again. “what goes around, comes around”. I hurt much seeing the hate-filled face of Pelosi shouting that man is dangerous! we must impeach him now! before any facts were out. anyone with brains would wait for the facts, just my opinion. ha. shortly after the president-elect says we must come together and says I will not choose to impeach, and she does this to create more hate, more separation? when 1% of the capital protesters entered the capital of the thousands of protesters, in town, the media says all trump supporters broke in and all Trump followers are terrorists. without the facts. yes, 80 years old but still a spoilt child, (I can say that because I am older than her), ha. another one that makes rules and breaks them herself. when are these politicians going to grow up and find ways of serving people instead of attacking and tearing people down? people, people. There will be many Democrats seeing all these childish actions, happing now and decide not to vote democrat anymore. that is why 4 democrats cause me not to vote democrat anymore. in 2016 I didn’t like Trump’s personality and was not going to vote for him but Hillary’s immature actions and baggage made me decide not to vote for her. Trump’s accomplishments under extreme pressure were amazing and only hate-filled people can’t see it. I still don’t like his methods of communication but his accomplishments outweigh that.

Now is, the time to escape the CNN prison, and get to OANN on ATT 208 or NewsMAX on ATT 220 and safety and freedom and fresh air. Must act quickly before it is to late, and you are brainwashed into believing their nonsense and the constant lies that they spew all day long. It must take a lot of stamina to be able to lie like that, and the endurance to be able to keep coming up with all of this crap all day long. “incredible”. and it is really unbelievably stupid. Run to OANN on ATT 208 or NewsMAX on ATT 220 right a way to save your freedom of speech and thought and beliefs and get some fresh air and honest reporting. It is essential that you do so right now, save your sanity.

The main part of the Supreme Court’s job is OVERSIGHT, and if someone or some state is violating the constitution, then the court should step in, whether or not there is a complaint or brief filed in a lower court or the high court directly. If the court is not doing this, then the court is not doing the due diligence it is suppose to do, to protect the constitution. And if the court is not going to do its job, then it is up to we the people to do the job, and if we have to do the job then we just as well fire the court, we are the only ones that can. It makes no difference if a judge is conservative or liberal if the judge does not follow the constitution. The constitution was not put there to protect the administration, the legislature, or the court, it was put there to protect we the people, from the government period, by putting in guide lines for the government to follow. When the government does not want to follow, then we the people have the right and the power to change or remove the government. I think that the court gets so tongue tied with the literal meaning of the law that it forgets what the most important part of its job is. OVERSIGHT.

Since officials in a number of states have taken it upon themselves to make laws with out the legislative bodies in those states, that the constitution gives the legislative bodies the power to do. They are ignoring the constitution, and need to be reigned in. It is past time for the SCROTUS to do its due diligence, and step in, if the SCROTUS does not wish to do so, then we the people will have to do the job of the court, and we will not need the court.
Liberals think that they can change the laws just by wishing it, and that is wrong. That is the way kings, queens, tyrants, and dictators rule. and that is why our forefathers wrote the constitution, to keep the corrupt from getting in power in government. That is why we have come to the point of needing to set term limits and to remove immunity that protects those that would try to abuse their position by creating greater transparency in the government.

Just like they did with the Hunter Biden scandal, the fake news and the media, are covering up what states are doing to hide the evidence. It is not only in the so-called battle ground states. The governors and judges, and election officials in these states, are violating the law and the constitution of the United States, by making laws illegally, and suppressing the evidence, by refusing to allow ballots, and machines to be investigated. As much as I hate to say this the Supreme Court is condoning this behavior, by not enforcing the constitution. This is their job, to protect the constitution by enforcing it. The Supreme Courts job of oversight does not end because a case is not filed in a lower court. There is nothing in the constitution that says the Supreme Court it’s self cannot call on the DOJ or Superior Court to take action on such matters, and for it not to do so is negligence.
As I have said before and will repeat.
Liberals think that they can change the laws just by wishing it, and that is wrong. That is the way kings, queens, tyrants, and dictators rule.

The constitution was not put there to protect the administration, the legislature, or the court, it was put there to protect we the people, from the government, by putting in guide lines for the government to follow.

U.S. Code Section 242 of Title 18, Deprivation of rights under color of law, makes it a crime for a person acting under color of any law to willfully deprive a person of a right or privilege protected by the Constitution or laws of the United States.
For the purpose of Section 242, acts under “color of law” include acts not only done by federal, state, or local officials within the their lawful authority, but also acts done beyond the bounds of that official’s lawful authority, if the acts are done while the official is purporting to or pretending to act in the performance of his/her official duties.

Some states have gotten the idea that they can just change laws because they want to. However that is not the case, when a state becomes a state they sign on to the constitution and the bill of rights, and all of the laws contained with in the constitution. These are the over riding laws of the land, and apply to all states, and can not be just dismissed out of hand by any state governor, state legislature, or any state official, or local officials. It does not work that way. The constitution and the bill of rights can not be changed by any government body be it federal state or local. Changes to the constitution and the bill of rights can only be made by we the people. Not with E.O. or legislation by any governing body, or any whim of someone on the supreme court. This is to keep government from usurping the power of the people.

The supreme Court is “appointed” to oversee the implementation of the constitution, and the protection of the constitution, by enforcing the constitution.
Lately it would seem that the Supreme Court is neglecting its role of oversight, and enforcement. Which means it is not protecting the constitution.

The Supreme Court is being negligent in its duty of oversight, of a number of states that have violated the constitution, by letting officials make laws illegally, instead of the legislatures in those states. This falls squarely in the scope of the Supreme Court. Whether or not any complaint has been filed in any other court or the Supreme Court Directly. This is the job of the Supreme Court in its roll of oversight, in the protection of the constitution. I am sorely disappointed by the Supreme Courts actions or lack there of, to do what is necessary to protect the constitution and thereby the country and the people. Trump thought he appointed three conservatives to the Supreme Court, I think he guessed wrong.

The snipers are going after the wrong target. They should be going after the big tech ceos and the [email protected] media ceos.Get rid of them and you will have crippled the democrats, and the Biden SS ( BLM, Antifuka ). The media and the news outlets [email protected] the information to each other, and the tr00ps in the field. So if you take them out you get their main communication link.

Texas need to institute its own immigration policy, just as California’s Newson does. Besides with all these states making their own elect laws, I think we should make our own immigration laws. The Supreme Court isn’t going to do any thing any, cause it doesn’t have any standing.

When, will Trump be making a trump impeachment coin. I know that you think I am being funny, but it would be a great heirloom, and would really piss Pelosi off, and he could make a mint. At the same time it would rub it in her face, that she tried three times an failed three time, The fact that she did it only amplifies her poor decision making, and her tantrums only put it on display.
