House Republicans pushing for search at University of Pennsylvania for more classified documents

House Republicans are demanding a thorough search at the University of Pennsylvania where classified documents were found among President Joe Biden's belongings, the Washington Examiner reported. Biden had occupied an office at the Penn Biden Center think tank the university hosts.

In an exclusive to the Washington Examiner, four Congressional Republicans said some 2,00o boxes and 400 gigabytes of Biden's records stored at the university must be searched. Biden was there between 2017 and 2020, but some documents go back as far as Biden's time in the Senate.

"We need to go back to his history," Rep. Pete Sessions said. "I am completely stunned by the lack of discipline," he added.

"If you are on the House side, as I've stated publicly, you cannot walk out of a room or a private briefing with anything. They have these things floating around," Sessions said of the Senate.

Biden's complete Senate records have resided at the University of Delaware since Biden donated them to the school in 2012. The school had said it would make them "available to the public two years after Biden’s last day in elected public office."

However, once Biden announced his presidential bid in April 2019, the university reneged on that promise.  It now says the records will be secret until the president "retires from public life."

"As a matter of national security, the special counsel must search Joe Biden’s full Senate records, which have remained hidden under lock and key from the American public," Rep. Elise Stefanik, House Republican Conference Chairwoman, said. "The American people deserve to know the extent of Biden’s national security risk, especially after discovering Joe Biden has had possession of classified documents from his time in the Senate over a decade ago," the New York Republican added.

The possibility of what's in those records has come under new scrutiny after the first trove of classified documents was found at UPenn in November. A second stash was discovered at Biden's Wilmington, Delaware, home earlier this month, and a third on Friday.

More troublingly, where they were found is also problematic, considering the Penn Biden Center has ties to Chinese donors and has called for warmer relations with the communist nation over climate change policy. This has led to speculation about the security of national secrets that might have been left behind.

"We've got to look at it all," Rep. Troy Nehls told the news outlet. "Let's let the evidence lead us to where we need to go. I think we've got to be open to it all," the Texas Republican, who serves on the House Judiciary Committee, said.

"You can't trust the DOJ, and you can't trust the FBI," Nehls said, echoing a common sentiment. "And I think we've got the two right guys in place. Comer and Jordan as chairs of those two committees that will have oversight and will look into this," he added.

Rep. James Comer (R-KY), House Oversight and Reform Committee Chairman, and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), Judiciary Committee Chairman, are digging into the Biden family's business affairs, including the president's son Hunter Biden. Comer said that mishandling classified documents aligns with a "pattern of an influence operation" and "treason" in remarks Sunday.

"This needs to be exposed," Nehls continued. "The American people need to know that the Biden family is as corrupt as corrupt could be, in my humble opinion." There is evidence that Hunter Biden may have had access to the documents kept in the president's garage.

Several Republicans and right-leaning watchdog groups are zeroing in on this scandal for Biden. Regardless of whether more documents are found or not, it's enough that he's been so cavalier about protecting America's secrets -- and he must answer for that.
