House Republicans launch multiple investigations into Joe Biden

The Washington Examiner reports that "multiple" Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives have now, as chairmen of their committees, launched investigations into President Joe Biden's mishandling of classified documents.

According to the Examiner, there are currently four investigations.

They come from the House Oversight Committee, which is led by U.S. Rep. James Comer (R-KY); the House Judiciary Committee, led by U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH); the House Foreign Affairs Committee, led by U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX); and the House Intelligence Committee, led by U.S. Rep. Mike Turner (R-OH).

Each of the investigations has a slightly different focus. The Examiner provides overviews of each.

Comer's investigation appears to be the most in-depth of the four.

Comer, among other things, is investigating potential bias at the National Archives considering its conspicuous disparity of treatment in its handling of the Biden classified documents case and the classified documents case involving former President Donald Trump - the one that culminated in an FBI raid on Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence.

Comer is also investigating the locations where the classified documents in Biden's possession were found, namely the Penn Biden Center in Washington D.C. and Biden's Wilmington, Delaware, residence.

Of particular concern to Comer appears to be who had access to the documents - including whether the Chinese may have had access to them, considering China's relationship to the Pen Biden Center.

Jordan, on the other hand, as head of the Judiciary Committee, is investigating the Biden classified documents scandal from the perspective of the DOJ. Jordan, among other things, is looking to get his hands on all communications that took place between the DOJ, FBI, and Biden administration regarding the classified documents scandal.

Then, McCaul, as head of the Foreign Affairs Committee, is looking to understand what Secretary of U.S. State Antony Blinken knew about the classified documents in Biden's possession - particularly given that Blinken is the former managing director of the Penn Biden Center.

Finally, Turner, as head of the House Intelligence Committee, is investigating the classified documents scandal from the perspective of U.S. intelligence. He is looking to discover what damage may have resulted from Biden's improper handling of classified documents.

Thus far, the Biden administration, the DOJ, and others do not appear to be completely cooperating with the Republican-led investigations.

Many deadlines for handing over information have already been broken.

It remains unclear what will come of these investigations if anything. But, at the very least, Biden and his people have to be feeling the pressure.
