House GOP targeting Joe Biden's family bank records

Rep. James Comer (R-KY) has revealed to Just the News that House Republicans will be seeking access to the Biden family's bank records.

Comer is the incoming chairman of the House Oversight Committee.

Under his leadership, the committee will launch an investigation into the Biden family, looking to answer such questions as whether President Joe Biden knew about and benefited from the controversial international business dealings of his son Hunter Biden.

It is as part of this investigation that Comer and House Republicans, according to Just the News, will seek "access to some 150 Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR) filed by banks concerning Hunter Biden's financial transactions."

"This isn't a fishing expedition," Comer told the outlet, adding, "we have every reason to believe that Hunter Biden was paying for living expenses for Joe Biden - a significant amount of living expenses - and we want to verify that."

Comer said that House Republicans will be looking to use the way congressional Democrats have gone after former President Donald Trump as precedent.

"The Democrats have set a precedent on this," Comer told Just the News. "They filed suit forcing former President Trump to have to turn over his tax records. So, the Democrats have already set a precedent for bank records and tax records."

The U.S. Supreme Court, just this past week, even granted the Democrats a victory in the matter, ordering Trump to hand over his tax returns to the House Ways and Means Committee.

This committee, under the control of Democrats, has been trying to get Trump's tax returns since 2019. And, now they are going to get their way, just as Trump announced his bid for the 2024 presidential election.

Comer went on to explain to Just the News why it is that House Republicans want access to the Biden family's bank records.

He said:

When the White House will inevitably say, "Well, Joe Biden wasn't benefiting from Hunter's shady business dealings," there's gonna be a little "Wait a minute now, who was paying for this, and who was paying for that? How did the President afford this? Who paid for that?"

"And, that's why we need the bank records," Comer added.
