Politics is all about following the money. This time, it leads right to a Republican win.
The National Republican Congressional Committee significantly outpaced Democrats’ fundraising in the period between April and June 2021, Breitbart reported. Republicans pulled in a record-setting $45.4 million for the second quarter while Democrats raked in $36.5 million.
Although the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee also set its own record, the amount raised is nearly $10 million less than their GOP counterpart. In fact, Republicans netted $79.2 million in the first half of the year — the best showing for the NRCC ever.
Both the DCCC and the NRCC already had full coffers, but again it’s the Republicans which have the advantage. The NRCC began with $55 million cash tucked away compared to DCCC’s $44 million.
This could mean Republicans are better poised to take over Congress in the 2022 midterm elections. “We will take back the majority next fall and voters are doing everything they can to help us accomplish that goal,” Rep. Tom Emmer (R-MN), chairman of the NRCC, said in a statement scooped by Breitbart.
“Our record-breaking fundraising total wouldn’t have been possible without the leadership of Leader Kevin McCarthy, Whip Steve Scalise, our Republican conference, and the tens of thousands of generous donors who have contributed to our mission,” Emmer’s statement said. “Every vulnerable House Democrat should be eyeing the exits because if they choose to run, they will lose,” Emmer warned.
Republicans pulled out some surprising upsets in the 2020 election cycle with much less cash on hand. The GOP managed to flip 15 House seats even as they were expected to lose as many.
Americans are not happy with the job House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats are doing, and it seems they’re intent on doubling down on their unpopular radical agenda. If the Republicans are raising this much money now, there’s a good shot they will be victorious in 2022 — and it will come not a moment too soon.
