Former Secretary of State and Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said progressives in the party could hurt Democrats during the 2022 midterms.
Clinton made the remarks during an interview with MSNBC’s Willie Geist that aired on Thursday.
“I think that it is a time for some careful thinking about what wins elections, and not just in deep-blue districts where a Democrat and a liberal Democrat, or so-called progressive Democrat, is going to win,” Clinton said.
“I understand why people want to argue for their priorities. That’s what they believe they were elected to do,” she added.

The news comes as President Joe Biden ends his first year in office with fewer wins than expected as the party has experienced conflict within its own ranks. West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin has led push back from the moderate side while the Squad and other progressives have pushed for more radical reforms.

The interview also airs as rumors speculate about Clinton potentially running once again for president, where she could face a rematch with former nemesis Donald Trump.
