Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced Tuesday that her first political thriller will be released on Oct. 12 — and critics have already caught on to an oddly familiar theme within the plot.
“My first foray into fiction! It was a labor of love with my friend (and favorite mystery author) Louise Penny, and I can’t wait for you to read it,” Clinton tweeted Tuesday.
“Pre-order ‘State of Terror’ now to dive in as soon as it’s released next Tuesday, October 12,” she added.

Many across social media scoffed at either the title of her novel sounding a bit too much like her work as Secretary of State or her claim the book marks her “first” attempt at fiction.

Your first foray into fiction was the idea the 2016 election was stolen from you. https://t.co/ULZ3KcDUbx

The novel may reach those already fans of Clinton, but also reminds many Americans of her leadership crisis regarding Benghazi, as well as her 2016 presidential campaign against former President Donald Trump.
