Ohio Democratic Rep. Joyce Beatty and other protesters were arrested on Thursday in the Hart Senate Office Building after leading a protest to end the filibuster.
Reporter Nicholas Wu tweeted, “Rep. Beatty is being zip tied as USCP starts to make arrests.”

Beatty had announced her protest in advance, tweeting, “Black women are demanding OUR right to vote! We’re marching to the Senate to send a strong message.”

The congresswoman soon entered the Hart building with other activists, chanting, “End the filibuster!”

Fox News reported nine people were arrested in total, including Beatty. The actions will certainly lead to continued discussion about the Senate filibuster and its role in the For the People voting rights act.
