Vice President Kamala Harris is almost as gaffe-prone as running mate Joe Biden — though she doesn’t have the same age-related excuses.
Harris, herself a rabid leftist, was recently attacked by those even more “woke” than herself for her decision to wear an expensive luxury suit from a high-fashion brand — Dolce & Gabbana — whose owners have been accused of racism, sexism, and homophobia multiple times in the past.
Biden and Harris promised to make “racial justice” their top priority if elected, but somehow Harris’s team of stylists managed to make her a major target of the woke mob by wearing the wrong clothing.
“Harris was photographed wearing a polo-necked wool jumper from the Italian fashion house, with a grey checked blazer and trouser suit at swearing-in of Janet Yellen as treasury secretary,” CNN News 18 reported on Wednesday. “She was seen wearing the brand’s straight-leg houndstooth trousers during her second shot of covid vaccine.”
D&G has been accused over the years of deploying “offensive” colonial-style earrings on a fashion show catwalk, depicting Asian models in a racist light, and the worst offense of all: Openly supporting former First Lady Melania Trump.
Harris also has been criticized for wearing unnecessarily opulent clothing right out of the gate, a move some see as tasteless, compounded by the fact the Dolce & Gabbana are longtime targets of woke “cancel culture.”
Vittoria Vignone, who runs the Kamala Harris fashion fan account “Kamala’s Closet” on Instagram, declared that Harris’s decision to tout D&B multiple times in just her first weeks in office is “disappointing” considering the fashion firm’s “problematic” history.
“Was it an oversight on the part of her team?” Vignone continued. “It’s possible but also incredibly sloppy. They could and should be better, especially after the triumphs of last week.”
“The timing of this so soon after her inaugural choices championed lesser-known American designers of colour is awful no matter how you look at it,” the blogger continued.
