An early poll has found that Vice President Kamala Harris is the favorite to run as president for Democrats if President Joe Biden chooses not to run for reelection in 2024.
Biden remains the top choice for 2024 among the Democrat choices in the Morning Consult/Politico survey, but Harris ranks next in line, with 31 percent support.
The poll noted the support is “driven by 52 percent of Black potential primary voters and 43 percent of its youngest potential primary voters (those ages 18-34).”
“Aside from Harris, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is supported by 11 percent of potential Democratic primary voters, while another 8 percent each said they’d support Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) or Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.),” the poll added.
While the White House continues to state Biden plans to seek reelection in 2024, the discussions of other candidates are wide open. Biden would be 82 by the time he took office for a second term.
In addition, his physical and cognitive issues have also led to more people considering other candidates.
CNN floated a list of 11 options this week, with Harris listed first among those in consideration.

The battle would make for an interesting one if Trump chooses a comeback run, pitting the comeback president against the narrative of the first potential woman of color in the White House.
