Governor Gavin Newsom vacationing in Montana despite banning state travel to the state

Leftist politicians love to impose all sorts of restrictions on others. However, they never seem to want to follow their own rules.

Gov. Gavin Newsom is vacationing in Montana despite having banned travel to the state over supposed anti-LGBT laws, the Washington Examiner reported. The California governor blacklisted it almost a year to the date but is now spending leisure time there.

Anthony York, the governor’s senior communications director, shot back at the suggestion that Newsom acted improperly. “The travel ban applies to using state funds,” he said in a tweet Tuesday, Fox News reported.

“The Governor’s travel is not being paid by the state. Connecting the two is an attempt at gotcha journalism that is neither gotcha nor journalism. The governor is on a vacation with his family. He will return later this week,” York said.

Officials are barred from using state money to travel to 22 states, including Montana, since they’ve passed laws that the left sees as an attack on gay rights. While technically correct that Newsom didn’t violate the rule, it’s not a good look for him.

California Attorney General Rob Bonta had added Montana effective July 1, 2021, meaning Newsom’s trip coincided with the addition of the state to the list. “The states are a part of a recent, dangerous wave of discriminatory new bills signed into law in states across the country that directly work to ban transgender youth from playing sports, block access to life-saving care, or otherwise limit the rights of members of the LGBTQ community,” Bonta said in a statement at the time.

Montana was added after the state legislature passed a bill that banned gender-confused males from competing in female sports. The Big Sky state also passed a religious freedom protection law for business owners who wish to refuse certain services based on their conscience.

Democrats like Newsom demonize Republican-led states for governing the way their constituents wanted them to. At the same time, they have no problem enjoying the natural beauty and unabashed freedom they offer — what hypocrites.

Ingram said Republican Senate candidate J.D. Vance now best represents her views for the future of Ohio.
Over the past year, more than one million voters have switched to Republican ahead of the midterms.
“Roughly 1.7 million Americans have changed their party affiliation over the past 12 months,” Fox News
“Two-thirds of those have gone to the GOP, while just 630,000 have switched to the Democratic Party, according to the report,” it added.
The new shift appears to be part of a red wave that began last year with the election of Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin in Virginia that may soon sweep across the nation.
