Gov. Kristi Noem wins South Dakota GOP primary

South Dakota Republican Gov. Kristi Noem has won the nomination in the state’s GOP primary on Tuesday.

Noem faced former House Speaker Steve Haugaard in a hard-fought battle to keep her place as the state’s governor.

“Jamie has long supported mandating things down to people that should be their personal responsibility to make choices on,” she said. “He’s got a very different view of government than I do.”

“He’s marched to BLM [Black Lives Matter], he supports more taxes, more spending,” she continued. “I would say we are very, very far apart when it comes to policies and approach in the role of government should have in people’s lives.”

The win also adds another victory to former President Donald Trump’s list of endorsements.

The governor plans to continue her fight for limited government, the pro-life movement, and the Second Amendment in her push for reelection.
