Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY) discussed his recent border visit on Sunday during a Fox News “Sunday Morning News” segment where he argued the Biden administration is trying to hide the border crisis.
“This is both a humanitarian crisis and a national security crisis,” he said. “I saw both at the border. And you may have seen the numbers today are the highest in history of unaccompanied minors currently in captivity.”
Barrasso also noted his concerns regarding COVID-19 safety measures in Border Patrol facilities. He noted “you have 10 percent of them who are positive already.”
The Wyoming Senator noted all of the immigrant children have been exposed alongside those who tested positive. Then the children are being transported across the country.
Barrasso added, “They are carrying it, though, all around America. They’re not being quarantined. Every one of them ought to be quarantined.”
As of last Tuesday, ABC News reported “17,641 unaccompanied migrant minors in government care — 5,606 children are in CBP custody and 12,035 in the care of the Department of Human and Health Servies.”
If 10 percent are testing positive, as Barrasso claimed, the number of unaccompanied minor immigrants testing positive for COVID-19 would be more than 1,700. Many additional children would also be exposed to the virus.
Customs and Border Patrol also reported, “On-site medical personnel can provide basic assessment and supportive treatment, but suspected COVID-19 cases are referred to local health systems for appropriate testing, diagnosis and treatment.”
The senator’s concerns are shared by most Americans. The Biden administration has more than a coverup on its hands; it also has a growing COVID-19 concern.
