GOP Reps seek answers about alleged ties between Biden, UPenn, and hostile foreign governments

During his time in office, the left smeared President Donald Trump with accusations about his ties to Russia. By contrast, there may be sufficient evidence that President Joe Biden actually has nefarious foreign connections, but that fact has been largely ignored — until now.

Biden was just put on notice by three House of Representatives Republicans who sent a letter to Dr. Amy Gutmann, president of the University of Pennsylvania, demanding answers about the school’s relationship with the Biden family and unfriendly foreign nations. The letter asserts the university received funds from “China, Russia, Iran and Qatar,” possibly using its Biden family connections as a conduit.

The letter, signed by House Committee on Oversight and Reform Ranking Member James Comer (R-KY) along with Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), was a follow-up to an earlier inquiry dated Aug. 3. Foxx is a ranking member on the Committee on Education and Labor and Jordan is a ranking member on the Committee on the Judiciary. All three committees have jurisdiction over the matter, according to the letter.

The correspondence referenced reports of sizeable donations funneled to the University of Pennsylvania’s Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement (Penn Biden Center). A complaint filed with the U.S. Department of Education sought to reveal the identity of Chinese donors responsible for $22 million to the Penn Biden Center since 2017.

“In light of your university’s close relationship with the Biden family and recent revelations regarding their potentially illicit ties to foreign adversaries including China,” the letter stated, “we request an immediate response to this inquiry.”

Recent revelations indeed suggest that Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden, who is under criminal investigation for his “tax affairs,” may have received illicit money from China. The signors demanded to know whether the Penn Biden Center “received funds from China or other adversarial nations at the behest of the Biden family or future Biden Administration officials” and what “the potential improper influence these nations enjoy over the Biden family.”

An examination of Chinese donations fueled suspicions about the Penn Biden Center’s ability to draw so much foreign funding. Comparing the same time frame before and after the project was announced in February of 2017, donations from undisclosed Chinese donors increased by over $51 million after the plans for the Center were unveiled.

The letter expressed concern about the Chinese Communist Party and its “efforts to use its strategic investments to turn American college campuses into indoctrination platforms for American students.”

For that reason, the Congressional Republicans demanded transparency about gifts from Chinese donors as well as the correspondences from Gutmann, Joe Biden, and other high-ranking officials at the institution surrounding the Center from as far back as January 2013.

The letter gave UPenn until Feb. 4, 2021 to turn over the evidence, and the American people have a right to those answers. If a communist country is pouring money into an institution of higher learning — particularly into part of the school that bears the name of a sitting president — it’s a matter of national security.
