GOP rep has one problem with Durham Russia Collusion Hoax investigation

The Washington Examiner reports that Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) has raised a “concern” about a claim made by Special Counsel John Durham in his ongoing investigation into the Russia-Trump collusion hoax.

Jordan’s concern has to do with Durham’s indictment of Michael Sussmann, the cybersecurity lawyer who has been linked to Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign.

“Somehow, Durham is saying that he doesn’t think the FBI knew who Sussmann was representing, but I just find that hard to believe,” Jordan said on Friday.

Sussmann is about to face trial for lying to the FBI. During a meeting that Sussmann convened with the FBI in 2016 for the purpose of providing a fabricated link between Donald Trump and a Russia-linked bank, Sussmann claimed that he was not working on behalf of any client.

Durham, however, alleges that Sussmann was working for a tech exec as well as for Clinton’s campaign, an allegation which Sussmann continues to deny. Sussmann, in fact, has pled “not guilty” to the lying charge.

Jordan, who is leading a congressional investigation into the Russia-Trump collusion hoax, explained why he doesn’t believe that the FBI didn’t know who Sussmann was representing during that meeting. He brought up an email that Sussmann sent to FBI general counsel James Baker the day before their 2016 meeting, which Jordan says shows that Sussmann and Baker were “friends.”

The email reads:

Jim — it’s Michael Sussmann. I have something time-sensitive (and sensitive) I need to discuss. Do you have [availability] for a short meeting tomorrow? I’m coming on my own — not on behalf of a client or company — want to help the Bureau. Thanks.

Other than this, Jordan says that he is happy with “everything else” that he is seeing from Durham.

“[It’s] encouraging to see that he’s digging into this and getting to the bottom of it,” Jordan said.
