Former President George W. Bush is set to help raise funds for Colorado Republican Senate candidate Joe O'Dea, who hopes former President Donald Trump does not run again for the White House.
O'Dea is currently behind Democrat Michael Bennett in the important Senate race.

"Bush's backing of O'Dea's bid against Bennet — first reported by NBC — tracks with the former two-term president's efforts to keep the scandal-plagued Trump out of politics," Business Insider reported.
"Bush condemned the insurrectionists at the US Capitol in January 2021 and maxed out his political contributions to Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming, both of whom supported Trump's impeachment," it added.

O'Dea's final push hopes to give him a boost heading into the midterms as Republicans seek to take back power in Washington.
Bush's help may also signal that more Republicans are ready to move on with or without Trump's involvement.
