George Floyd protest turns deadly in Oakland, CA

The Oakland, CA Police Department confirmed that riots sparked by the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis earlier this week turned deadly on Friday night, culminating in the shooting of two Department of Homeland Security officers.

“Two Federal Protective Services officers stationed at the Oakland Down Town Federal Building suffered gunshot wounds. Unfortunately, one succumbed to his injury,” a PD spokesperson told CNN on Saturday.

According to Breitbart, “Federal Protective Services is a division of DHS tasked with defending the federal government’s ‘critical infrastructure, services, and the people who provide or receive them.'”

Nearly 7,000 protestors in the San Francisco Bay Area city took to the streets, vandalizing businesses and cars across the area. Oakland Chief of Police Susan Manheimer issued a statement urging Californians to continue protesting peacefully:

[Protests] started out peacefully and we stood with our community here in the city of Oakland to provide safe spaces and respectful spaces for our demonstrators. What we saw later on in the evening turned violent and disruptive, and we want to call on everyone who would come to Oakland and stand with us to respect the memory of George Floyd and the community — to ensure that they are peaceful and are respectful of the city of Oakland and especially our downtown businesses, which have been suffering since the pandemic began.

Prompted by the unjust death of Minneapolis man George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin on Monday, riots have broken out across the nation, leaving a wake of destruction in their path. Chauvin was arrested and charged with murder and manslaughter on Friday afternoon.

Protesters in Washington D.C. also gathered outside the White House Friday night, attempting to break down barriers and lashing out a Secret Service agents protecting the President’s residence.

    1. You’re sounding like Chauvin now. Things must deescalate. Trump was correct in calling in the National Guard.
      Cooler heads have to prevail.

    2. Correct, the liberal dem bloodsucking parasitical ticks had better stay where the dems are they start in my state we will bury all of them

  1. This morning, I found a text message from the chapel I attend stating that all services were cancelled because the front entrance had been vandalized during the riots last night. The chapel’s glass doors were shattered. Whoever did this to a place of worship apparently had no fear of God.

  2. As far as I’m concerned anyone destroying property or looting should be arrested. It is just a mob oppertunity to do wrong under the guise of protest. They are all idiots to do these things.

  3. The death of flyd MUST BE INVESTIGATED! If it turns out that the Police Officer was in the wrong, he should be punished accordingly. BUT, NO MATTER WHAT FLOYD OR THE POLICE DIDS OR DIDN’T DO, THE RIOTERS ARE ABSOLUTELY WRONG! THEY ARE USING THE TRAGEDY TO EXCUSE THEIR AWFUL BEHAVIOR! HARMING PEOPLE AND BUSINESSES THAT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH FLOYD! THEY SHOULD BE ARRESTED FOR THEIR CRIMES!

  4. trey gowdy is right we need to set down and have a stright talk how can the black community have any faith in our corrupt justice system? I am not black but I can understand how they feel having had family who had trouble with the court system this is crazy this all has to stop and have a real honest talk about our problem. this young man did not have to die come on folks push our gov. to stop and talk to us and take some real action.

  5. It is past time for this country to address the race issue we have ignored for 100’s of years.ALL people need to take a step back and THINK what is truely in the best interest of us all. Not just the police, or the political parties, or the looters and law breakers but ALL Americans. The only way we will solve this issue is to come together as a people and discuss the issue rationally and fairly. Racism has been among us for far too long.
    Lets get it done,NOW

  6. In regards to this rioting and burning and looting: Why did the Democrat elected leaders ,in all these affected cities, not stop the problem ASAP? They are soooooooo PC, and don’t want to offend. Call out these whose behavior is unlawful, and protect the rights of the citizens who live in these cities and own the businesses that were torched. President Trump, offered Federal help and all states have the National Guard , to maintain order,as well as state and local law enforcement . These “demonstrations”, many organized and peopled by outsiders, are not honoring the memory of the late George Floyd. The Minn cop will be dealt with by the court system. Most people know that. Antifa and organizations like that, need to be federally investigated and people arrested for causing mayhem under the guise of “civil disobedience.” MSM should not try to equate what is happening as justification for a bad cop causing a black citizen’s death. Too many participants in these demonstrations, have another agenda altogether.

  7. I always spent my half an hour to read this web site’s articles or reviews daily along with a mug of coffee.
