Tulsi Gabbard warns that ballot harvesting poses ‘serious threat’ to integrity of election

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) just broke with the Democrat establishment that has been pushing mail-in voting ahead of the November election, revealing that she believes that voter fraud is a “serious threat.”

While Democrats seek to expand ballot collection and increase voter participation by any means necessary, despite warnings that many proposed measures expose US elections to high risk for fraud, Gabbard is not falling in line.

Instead, Gabbard is sponsoring a House bill called the Election Fraud Prevention Act, which will crack down on states that allow ballot harvesting, a practice that allows non-governmental organizations to distribute and collect ballots to be returned to polling stations.

Fox News reported that “24 states and the District of Columbia permit someone chosen by the voter to return mail ballots on their own.” An additional 12 states outline specific persons that are authorized to collect and return ballots, such as family members or caregivers.

“Banning ballot harvesting is not a partisan issue. It’s been used & abused in states like North Carolina and California & is ripe for fraud,” Gabbard tweeted on Saturday. The legislation is co-sponsored by Rep. Rodney Davis (R-IL).

The proposal seeks to suspend federal funding for states that refuse to ban the controversial practice. “No one should get between a voter and the ballot box,” Gabbard said.

Though most Democrats are reluctant to admit that any type of voting conducted outside of physical polling locations is ripe for abuse, Gabbard boldly declared that the practice of ballot harvesting “allows for abuse from third parties collecting and mishandling ballots” and “poses a serious threat to the integrity of our elections.”
