GA GOP House candidate vows ‘day one’ impeachment filing against Biden

Georgia Republican House candidate Vernon Jones has stated he will file articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris on his first day in office if elected.

Jones, a former Democrat, turned Trump supporter, left the governor’s race last week to run for the 10th District against incumbent Jody Hice, who is now running for the role of Georgia’s Secretary of State.

Trump has already endorsed Jones, offering him a boost in a state divided over the 2020 election results and the battle that ensued with Trump and Gov. Brian Kemp.

“On Day One in Congress, I’ll file Articles of Impeachment against both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for betrayal of public trust,” Jones said in a tweet Wednesday.

“Then I’ll cast my vote for President Trump to be Speaker and invite my colleagues to join me. It’s time to throw out the old playbook,” he added.

The strong words may be what is needed to set Jones apart for office in November. Now it will be up to whether Georgia supports him to see whether he’ll follow through on his words.
