France’s Macron may have tricked Biden into sympathy over sub deal

A newly leaked text message from French President Emmanuel Macron suggests he was aware of the multibillion-dollar submarine deal with Australia was in trouble well before the plans ended with the U.S.

The new information changes the allegation that France had been caught unaware of the plans the Biden administration took.

France had recalled its ambassadors to the U.S. over the deal between the U.S. and Australia, making a public scene regarding the events.

Macron maintains that the Australian prime minister had lied to him regarding the deal, leading to the tense situation. Some details regarding what he knew and when, however, remain undetermined.

The two leaders have appeared to make up, as they mutually spoke well of each other during and after the recent G20 event.

I had a great meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron this afternoon. The United States has no older, no more loyal, no more decent ally than France. They’ve been with us from the beginning — and we will always be there for them,” Biden said.

The new information reveals more details about Macron’s side of the story, but continues to leave unanswered questions about the case that led to much public controversy between the U.S. and France.
