Fox News issued a statement of support for host Jesse Watters after Dr. Anthony Fauci said he should be first over his remarks about the coronavirus expert.
Watters had called for conservatives to investigate Fauci in order to expose the doctor and others, including Massachusetts Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
The remarks took place during Turning Point USA’s recent conference in Phoenix, Arizona.
Onstage at a conservative political conference, Watters encouraged the audience of young conservatives to “ambush” the nation’s top infectious-disease expert and to finish him off with a rhetorical “kill shot” of pointed questions. https://t.co/p5tOCdSnr8

“Based on watching the full clip and reading the entire transcript, it’s more than clear that Jesse Watters was using a metaphor for asking hard-hitting questions to Dr. Fauci about gain-of-function research and his words have been twisted completely out of context,” the statement read.
“He’s gonna go, very likely, unaccountable. I mean, whatever network he’s on is not going to do anything for him,” Fauci argued.
Dr. Anthony Fauci says Fox News’ Jesse Watters should “be fired on the spot” for telling a crowd to “ambush” Fauci with “the kill shot.”

The controversy is resolved from the viewpoint of Fox News, but Fauci has clearly noted his disdain for the network and its hosts.
