Fox anchor Bret Baier reveals son must undergo major heart surgery

Bret Baier, one of Fox News’ most-liked anchors, in addition to directing a bulk of the network’s 2020 presidential election coverage, is also dealing with an upcoming family medical situation that he admitted is always in the back of his mind, no matter how calm, cool and collected he is on screen.

According to the Daily Caller, Baier’s 13-year-old son Paul will soon undergo a major heart surgery, which will be the young man’s fourth heart surgery in total, following a successful surgery as recently as one month ago.

Paul was reportedly born with a number of heart defects and actually underwent his first cardiac surgery just days after he was born.

Baier admitted in an interview with USA Today that even though the family now has more experience with heart surgeries than any parent should ever have, that on the day of, it won’t be easy.

“As I’m getting ready for the election, I’m kind of getting ready mentally, physically to handle the details of our Super Bowl. It’s people in your ear: ‘We’re gonna call Ohio. We’re gonna call Florida.’ All these different things happening. But, in the back of my mind is the next big Super Bowl that we have in our family health. And it’ll take some getting ready for,” Baier said.

Luckily for Paul — and the entire family — Baier’s wife, Amy, chairs the Children’s Hospital Foundation, which undoubtedly helps provide the family with connections to the best cardiac surgeons in the nation. Paul will undergo his surgery at the prestigious Washington D.C.-based Children’s National Hospital in December.

During an Entertainment Tonight interview, Baier also opened up about his friendship with television host and comedian Jimmy Kimmel, saying that the two share a bond given that Kimmel also has a young child with heart defects.

Baier’s son will definitely be in good hands when he’s ready for his next surgery, but I’m sure the beloved Fox News anchor would be more than appreciative to receive prayers from his fans to provide added comfort and security for him and his family.
