Former Vice President Mike Pence predicts Republicans will win control of Congress

Former Vice President Mike Pence is predicting that Republicans are going to retake Congress in the upcoming midterm elections.

Pence made the prediction in an exclusive interview that he did over the weekend on Breitbart News Saturday.

Pence said:

I really do believe that we are poised to win more than 30 seats in the House. I believe that we will win the United States Senate, and I also believe that we could well have a record number of Republican governors and statehouses around the country.

Elsewhere in the interview, Pence explained why he feels this way.

Pence highlighted the many bad things that have happened under the leadership of President Joe Biden and congressional Democrats, including that inflation is at a "40-year high," that gas prices are up "60%," that crime is up in major cities, and that the southern border is seeing record illegal immigration numbers.

Pence went on to argue that these issues - in contrast to the issues that the Democrats have been "chasing," such as abortion - are "the issues that the American people are focused on."

Pence explained that this is why the Republicans, this election season, have been able to go on "offense," while the Democrats have been left "playing defense."

Pence expressed his belief that "Americans know that, with the right leadership in Congress and in the statehouses around the country, we can start to turn our country back to the security and prosperity that we experience during those four years of the Trump/Pence administration."

To regain the House, the Republicans need to net a handful of seats, while to regain the Senate, the Republicans need even fewer.

FiveThirtyEight has Republicans "favored" to win the House, stating that "right now, Republicans have a strong chance of taking back the House." FiveThirtyEight, however, has the Senate as a "dead heat" or "toss-up."

RealClearPolitics has Republicans up on the generic congressional ballot, on average, by 2.9 percentage points. Significantly, polling is showing that things are trending in the Republicans' favor as the midterms, which will take place on Nov. 8, approach.

So, Pence has solid support for his prediction of a big red wave this November.
