Former Cuomo aide says he sexually harrassed her ‘for years’

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) enjoyed excessive media adulation due to his handling of the COVID-19 crisis in his state at the outset of the pandemic, but his star is beginning to fall as numerous former staffers have come forward with serious allegations about his behavior.

The most recent former staffer to come forward is Lindsey Boylan, a former New York state government official, who claimed on Twitter this weekend that Cuomo repeatedly sexually harassed her over the “many years” she spent in his circle.

Boylan revealed her story as part of a larger commentary on sexual harassment in the workplace, beginning with her first experience hearing about her mother being harassed by her own boss. The progressive former Cuomo staffer went on to declare that “Yes, @NYGovCuomo sexually harassed me for years. Many saw it, and watched.”

“I could never anticipate what to expect: would I be grilled on my work (which was very good) or harassed about my looks,” she continued. “Or would it be both in the same conversation? This was the way for years.”

“Not knowing what to expect what’s the most upsetting part aside from knowing that no one would do a damn thing even when they saw it,” Boylan noted. “No one. And I *know* I am not the only woman.

I’m angry to be put in this situation at all. That because I am a woman, I can work hard my whole life to better myself and help others and yet still fall victim as countless women over generations have. Mostly silently. I hate that some men, like  @NYGovCuomo abuse their power,” she concluded.

Boylan tweeted later that she has “no interest in talking to journalists,” continuing to explain that the purpose for revealing her experience with Cuomo was “validating the experience of countless women and making sure abuse stops. My worst fear is that this continues.”

According to Boylan’s website, she “served as deputy secretary for Economic Development and Housing for the State of New York, where she oversaw the state’s chief economic development agency.” Boylan is currently running for Manhattan Borough President.

Boylan isn’t the first former staffer to come forward with claims that Cuomo acted inappropriately, although Boylan is the first to claim sexual harassment. Cuomo has not responded to any requests for comment at the time of this publication.

Despite a number of accusations and revelations about both Cuomo’s behavior as well as his policies in recent months, Cuomo still enjoys adoring media coverage, preferential treatment from Hollywood celebrities, and the approval of most of his constituents.
