Former Hillary Clinton donor David Sacks will reportedly host a fundraiser for Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis this month.
“In terms of why I like DeSantis, he was the first governor to stop these insane lockdowns. He found the right policy on lockdowns, which was to stop them, despite a hostile media,” Sacks said, according to the Washington Examiner.

Sacks’ preference for DeSantis marks a strong contrast to his previous leanings. In 2016, Sacks reportedly donated $40,000 to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, though he has also contributed to Republican candidates, according to SFGate.
The upcoming fundraiser is set for Oct. 22 in San Francisco.

Many have called for DeSantis to run for president in 2024 as his popularity among conservatives has surged in response to the pandemic. DeSantis has dismissed the rumors, instead focusing on winning reelection next year as Florida’s governor.
The event should offer an interesting mix of conservative leaders as well as business voices like Sacks interested in hearing from DeSantis despite a mixed political past.
